Our Aim

Our aim is to achieve equal access to services and information for all Deaf and hard of Hearing people in the area and membership is open to any person, of any age, who is Deaf or Hearing impaired, or who is a hearing spouse, partner, member or friend of the family.

About Us

The South Gloucestershire Deaf Association was formed in 1998 to provide advice and support for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing throughout the South Gloucestershire area. In 1998 it was estimated that around one in every seven of the population suffered from some form of hearing impairment but this number is likely to steadily increase as people live longer

Outreach Sessions

Outreach Sessions are not being provided until further notice due to staff shortages/changes.  Please contact Alexy Dury  at Frome House for more information.

How Can we Help?

On a practical level the Association aims to provide such things as Deaf Awareness and other forms of training, British Sign Language classes, and to make available information on the latest technical and environmental equipment for the home in written and video form. Additionally a range of environmental aids - Loop systems, TV Listeners, Flashing and vibrating alarm systems etc - is available for demonstration and assessment at Frome House. Simple repairs and batteries for NHS hearing aids are also available. For five days each week Frome House also serves as a help and advice centre. The Association also has a comprehensive Video Library
