Chipping Sodbury Bike Ride 2006

Staff, volunteers and Committee members took part in a different Bike Ride this year to raise funds for SGDA. The ride took place on Sunday 18th June and there were two routes to choose from: 10 miles and 25 miles.
Philip Ashford, Martin Holwell, Graham Colenso, Jan Darley, Graham Darley and Kelly Pitt took part in the 25 mile that left the Clock Tower at 11:00am. After a few photographs and quick alterations to the bikes we made our way to the route. Lucky for us the weather was dry but not too hot. The ride was pleasant with some difficult moments but we carried on! We stopped for lunch at a village pub and rested for a while.
The second half had more down hill which was good! The views were beautiful on the route and the ride was enjoyed by all.
Bill Shepherd, Jo Byrne and David Hass rode the 10 mile route for SGDA and also helped to raise funds for the association. They were able to take a more relaxed ride through the countryside!
A lovely day had by all and a BIG thank you to everyone who took part or sponsored the riders.

SGDA Quiz 2006

A great time was had by all at the annual Quiz on Saturday 13th May. About 95 people entered. A team from Dryleaze in Yate (The Eight from Yate) won the quiz and took home 9 bottles of wine!! There was also lots of prizes won on the raffle.

Jo Byrne (SGDA Fundraiser) did a fantastic job. She organised all the food by asking local shops and supermarkets for donations and then, with some help, cooked food for over 100 people! The tables and the food looked lovely and how she stayed so cool in the kitchen with the pressure is a mystery to me! Thanks also to Hazel for cooking the vegetarian dishes.

The success was also due to the people who helped. Philip Ashford & Liz Potter (Quizmasters), Karen Ashford (Scorer), Jackie Burslem, Clare Selway and Anne Senchal (Assistant Chefs), Bill Shepherd & Graham Darley (Bar Staff), Jan Darley & Hazel Shepherd (Table Decoration), and Julian Selway, Brian Burslem, Graham Colenso and Maggie Evans who were there to generally assist everyone. Also a big thank you to everyone who helped to clear up after the quiz was finished.

Victorian Evening at Chipping Sodbury.

On Friday 9th December 2005, SGDA took part in the Victorian Evening in Chipping Sodbury. Volunteers, staff and Committee members all turned up to help raise funds for the Association.

The night was a real success and both children and adults really enjoyed our Human Fruit Machine!!! It created a lot of attention and we even made it in to the local paper!!

The Association raised nearly £100 on the night and would like to say thank you to everyone who helped out and also a big thank you to Graham Colenso for organising the event.

Hope to see you there this year!!!
